DESCRIPTION:Morris County Ski Club Hike                                  \nPyramid Mountain\, Kinnelon\, NJ \n\n\n\n\n\nDate:  Saturday\, February 1\, 2025\nWill reschedule for April\, stay tuned\nTime:  10:00 AM\nMeeting Location: Boonton Avenue Field \nDifficulty: Moderate  \nHike distance: About 5.5 miles \nElevation gain: 715 feet \nTime: About 3 hours \nDescription: Join the Morris County Ski Club on a moderate hike at Pyramid Mountain in New Jersey. This hike features the famous “Tripod Rock”\, views of the NYC skyline and hiking along Taylortown Reservoir.   \nThe trailhead begins at the northern entrance to the park\, starting at a ballfield 2 miles from the Visitor Center (I recommend to use the google map directions in the link provided below).   \nFor those interested in grabbing a bite to eat afterwards\, the Reservoir Tavern in Boonton https://therestavern.com is nearby.  \nImportant Notes for the hike: \n\nHiking boots are highly recommended as the trails are rocky in spots and can be muddy.\nIf there is snow/ice on the trail\, micro spikes are highly recommended.\nDaypack to carry extra clothing\, sufficient water and a snack.  \nThere are NO restroom facilities at the trailhead. A porta-potty is located at the Visitor Center\, which is 2 miles away (see directions below). \n\nDirections to the meeting location from Morristown (https://maps.app.goo.gl/ELoMkiTFfyveTqeM6): \n\nTake I-287 North to exit 45 (Wootton St/Boonton)\nContinue on Park Ave (0.1 miles)\nTurn left on Wootton St (go 0.6 miles)\nTurn right on Boonton Ave (go 2 miles)\nTurn right onto Rockaway Valley Rd. (go 150 ft)\nTurn left on Boonton Ave (go about 3 miles).
