DESCRIPTION:Free Pizza Party\, Happy Hour & HABITAT FOR HUMANITY BUILD DAY \nApril 18th 2026 Hours: 8:30am to 4:00pm \nLocation: 103-7 Valley View Drive in White Meadow Lake\, NJ \nJoin your friends in the Morris County Ski Club for a day of giving back to the community. We will be participating in the building of two single family homes. As you can see from the photos above taken February 5th the houses are up and enclosed.  Our build day may include site work if it is a warm spring day or interior trim work if it is nasty out.  Please dress for the weather. \nI have made arrangements for the snow in these photos to be removed in time for our day.  The date is open to 10 workers.  Building experience is not required. \nMorris Habitat will provide us with: hard hats\, goggles\, gloves and basic tools\, or you may bring any of your own personal items if you prefer. If you bring your own tools\, please label them with your name. \nYour build leaders will provide pizza or sandwiches for lunch.  When the work is done\, the group often convenes for snacks and libations at a watering hole to be named later.  Build leader often provides the first round. There is a significant climb early in the hike and a more moderate climb around the midway point. SUMMARY:HIKING WEEKEND AT THENDARA MOUNTAIN CLUB IN HARRIMAN STATE PARK 
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin the Morris County Ski Club for a weekend retreat at the Thendara lodge in Harriman State Park on September 27 – 28\, 2025.   \nThendara is a social club where members and their guests enjoy hiking\, kayaking and swimming. The lodge is located near Lake Tiorati\, where members have access to a private swimming dock and a boathouse stocked with kayaks\, canoes\, paddles and life jackets. (Note: the swimming dock will most likely be closed for annual maintenance)   \nAccommodations: A rustic lodge with a main room\, surrounded by six bedrooms that accommodate up to 17 people\, with 2 – 4 single beds per room. There is a modern kitchen and two wash-up rooms in the lodge\, and an outhouse approximately 50 feet outside the lodge. A screened in bunkhouse and tent sites are available for those who would like to sleep in an outdoor setting. Mattresses and wool blankets are provided\, but please be sure to bring your own bedding/sleeping bag. There are a couple of climbs on the hike\, but they are not exceptionally long and moderate in steepness. A significant part of the hike will be easy. There are views of Lake Valhalla and NYC. This hike features the famous “Tripod Rock”\, views of the NYC skyline and hiking along Taylortown Reservoir.   \nThe trailhead begins at the northern entrance to the park\, starting at a ballfield 2 miles from the Visitor Center (I recommend to use the google map directions in the link provided below).   \nFor those interested in grabbing a bite to eat afterwards\, the Reservoir Tavern in Boonton https://therestavern.com is nearby.  \nImportant Notes for the hike: \n\nHiking boots are highly recommended as the trails are rocky in spots and can be muddy.\nIf there is snow/ice on the trail\, micro spikes are highly recommended.\nDaypack to carry extra clothing\, sufficient water and a snack.  \nThere are NO restroom facilities at the trailhead.
