There is a significant climb early in the hike and a more moderate climb around the midway point. SUMMARY:HIKING WEEKEND AT THENDARA MOUNTAIN CLUB IN HARRIMAN STATE PARK 
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin the Morris County Ski Club for a weekend retreat at the Thendara lodge in Harriman State Park on September 27 – 28\, 2025.   \nThendara is a social club where members and their guests enjoy hiking\, kayaking and swimming. The lodge is located near Lake Tiorati\, where members have access to a private swimming dock and a boathouse stocked with kayaks\, canoes\, paddles and life jackets. (Note: the swimming dock will most likely be closed for annual maintenance)   \nAccommodations: A rustic lodge with a main room\, surrounded by six bedrooms that accommodate up to 17 people\, with 2 – 4 single beds per room. There is a modern kitchen and two wash-up rooms in the lodge\, and an outhouse approximately 50 feet outside the lodge. A screened in bunkhouse and tent sites are available for those who would like to sleep in an outdoor setting. Mattresses and wool blankets are provided\, but please be sure to bring your own bedding/sleeping bag. The lodge has good filtered well water\, so bring a reusable water bottle.   \nSee https://thendaramountainclub.com/ for more details.  \nThendara is run by member volunteers. During hosted weekends meals are included\, and each weekend participant helps with 1 meal prep or clean-up.   \n  \nHappy hour appetizers are served around 6pm\, followed by dinner. Please note any food restrictions/allergies in the RSVP. \nOptional Activity: We will organize a 3 – 5 mile hike\, which will start promptly at 12:30pm on Saturday. DESCRIPTION:Join the Morris County Ski Club on Saturday\, September 6th\, for our beach bike ride in Point Pleasant\, NJ. \nBegin the day with a choice of two bike rides 20 or 35 miles. Both rides will be on flat\, lightly traveled roads. The 20-mile ride will go to Allaire State Park while the longer ride will have an additional 15-mile loop after Allaire State Park. We’ll start and finish at Risden’s Beach & Bath House. Once the ride is over\, we’ll head over to a local place for lunch and libations. If the weather is nice\, we may also get some beach time in! \nDETAILS:  \n\n Meeting time: 9:30 AM. Bike rides will roll at 10:00 AM sharp. Cue sheets will be provided. \n Please make sure your bikes are in good working order. Helmets are required; bring plenty of water and a spare tube. \n Start point will be from Risden’s Beach & Bathhouse\, Ocean & Trenton Aves.\, Pt. Pleasant. \n Remember that meters are in effect 24/7. DESCRIPTION:THE ANNUAL MORRISTOWN JAZZ & BLUES FESTIVAL\n    Saturday\, August 16\, 2025 from Noon to 9:30 PM \nJoin your fellow Morris County Ski Club members and guests for a great day of jazz and blues music at the free Morristown Jazz and Blues Festival on Saturday August 16.  \nThe music starts at noon on the Morristown Green with Dani G and Friends and continues all the way until 9:30 that night when headliner Samantha Fish will be wrapping up her set. Throughout the day there will be performances by the Jazz Ambassadors (the 19 piece touring band of the US Army)\, Blues People and King Solomon Hicks. \nSo\, grab your lawn chair or blanket and head down to meet event leader Tony Tarullo for some or all of the music that day. \nThe Morristown Green will have port-a-potties set up as well as plenty of restaurants nearby at which you can grab a bite to eat. You can also bring food and drinks to the event (though alcohol is prohibited). At end of exit ramp make a left. Pull up to stop light. Go straight through both stop lights (Rt. 15 north and south). Continue on the road (Berkshire Valley Rd.) for about 1 mile. Make a right turn (onto Minnisink Rd.) and follow this road to the stop sign. Proceed straight ahead for 1/4 mile. Make a very sharp left onto Nolans Point Rd. and follow it to Lake Hopatcong and the Jefferson House. \nTraveling East on Route 80: Exit 30 (Mount Arlington) At the end of the exit ramp turn left (driving under the Rt. 80 overpass) onto Howard Blvd. Continue on this road for 4.1 miles. Make a very sharp left turn onto Nolans Point Rd. and follow the road to Lake Hopatcong and the Jefferson House.

DESCRIPTION:Turkey Mountain\nMontville\, NJ\n  \nDate: Saturday\, June 21\, 2025\nTime: 9:30 AM\n  \nMeeting Location: Pyramid Mountain Visitor’s Center \nDifficulty: Moderate  \nHike distance: 5 to 6 miles \nTime: About 3.5 hours to 4 hours \n  \nDescription: An easy to moderate hike at Turkey Mountain. There are a couple of climbs on the hike\, but they are not exceptionally long and moderate in steepness. A significant part of the hike will be easy. There are views of Lake Valhalla and NYC. The hike also passes by a waterfall on which the water flow will be dependent on recent rainfall. \n  \nImportant Notes for the hike: \n\nWe will meet in the Pyramid Mountain Visitors Center and then walk across the street to Turkey Mountain.\nIf the parking lot is full just park on the side of the road\nHiking boots are recommended as the trails could be muddy.\nDaypack to carry extra clothing\, sufficient water and your snack.\nBring Insect repellent.  \nThere is a porta-a-potty in the parking lot Restroom facilities are located inside the visitor’s center although I cannot guarantee the visitor’s center will be open at 9:30 AM..\nAddress for the visitor’s center is 472 Boonton Avenue Montville NJ.\nThe visitor’s center is about a 20-minute ride from the VFW meeting location.\nAfter the hike we may go to a nearby bar and grill.\n\nFor more information\, please contact Paul Van Duyne C (201) 470-9317. \nEmail:  p_vanduyne@yahoo.com.  Advanced sign up by e-mail is not required but is appreciated.   \nYou can also sign-up on the Meet-up site. \nTo contact Paul the day of the hike with any other questions (201) 470-9317.

We will have 2 courts. Our resident expert\, George Demos will give tips to the intermediate players while Gina will coach the beginners. We will have extra paddles and plenty of balls. The restaurant focuses on regional and seasonal products through contemporary and traditional dishes.\n\nThe CIA is a private culinary school with 3 main restaurants (there is a French and an Italian one in addition to American Bounty).  They are operated entirely by the students\, many of whom go on to careers in the finest restaurants throughout the world.  The school is located on the banks of the beautiful Hudson River and there are many sites to see and activities to do before dinner (or the following day if people decide to stay over).\n\nIn addition to breweries and vineyards that offer tastings\, the Franklin D.
