Great Swamp Clean-Up

We have been asked by the Friends of Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge to repeat our annual roadside clean-up scheduled this year on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

For those who are new to this adventure, we meet at the Visitor Center and organize into 6 groups, each of which is assigned to a portion of the roads surrounding the Swamp. We are provided with tools, trash bags and reflective vests by the Refuge.  Volunteers should wear long pants, long-sleeved shirts, waterproof boots and gardening gloves.
Refuge personnel periodically pick up filled bags along the roadside as we work.  We meet at the end for a group photo in front of the [piles of] filled trash bags.
